No One Told the Trees

The leaves change and Autumn comes
no one told the trees
Spring was the end of all our known
no one spoke the truth
Summer came anyway, sun parade
no one stopped the earth
So fall blazes its death and glory
Someone holds our souls

Boundaries

Only you are safe
Borderless, endless
And in that eternity
Is my release
Is my shelter

Only you are whole
Beginning, ending
And in that perfection
Is my peace
Is my entirety

If She'll Drown

It’s rained for 47 days
But longer inside her
The ground swells in struggle
She wonders if she’ll drown
The roots and trees complain
And strength has left her arms
Earth turns mud and dam
covered in the sad monsoon

It’s rained for 48 days
But she still goes on
The crocus fight to rise
She wonders if she’ll love
The grass and earth proclaim
Her stubborn fingers write
Season turns in silent bloom
Carried by relentless spring

bloom

yellow weed in the twirled wind

someone wants you gone

why bloom? don’t you

know better

you’ll be pulled or mowed

for your pretense

nervy rock flower

audacious edge dweller

seen as wild in their space

accepted as true in yours

unashamed sun-ray dancer

someone wants you here

so bloom. you don’t

know better
